Baetis are one of the most common mayflies in North American rivers, especially in tailwaters like the San Juan. The Lil Baby Baetis is a terrific smaller mayfly pattern that represents nymphs are getting ready to emerge - the iridescent green strip on the thorax looks like a wingcase beginning to split. This gives this fly a realistic appearance and a slight glow underwater. A Land of Enchantment Guides pattern that works well on picky trout. Available in sizes 18, 20 & 22.
TIP: If you see a baetis or two hatching, try fishing the Lil' Baby higher up in the water column in a suspension nymph rig or behind a dry fly as a dropper.
