When caddis pupa leave their cases or cocoons on the river bottom, they swim towards the surface where they moult and hatch into flying adults. During this pupal stage as they are making their way to the surface is when this insect is most vulnerable to hungry fish. Trout key into them at this time and will devour a Soft Hackle Caddis Pupa. Available in size 14 & 16.
TIP: If you see fish taking adults on the surface, try this pattern under a large Elk Hair Caddis dry fly as the nymph in a dry-dropper rig.
